snow galore!

(Note: I started this post several weeks ago; I am finally sitting down to finish it! I couldn't not record the 5-6" of snow!!)

I have needed to write for quite some time. When I find myself anxious I know I need to sit down, still my heart and let the words (thoughts) flow. It calms me; it helps me think and process; it's so necessary for my heart. You'd never know it now but I used to be an AVID journalist...and then there was a block. I didn't pick up a pen for YEARS!!! I still don't journal in the pen and paper sense, but this blog has helped serve somewhat as a personal journal---to celebrate, to mourn, to remember, to pray.

We were thrilled to wake up to snow early Monday morning. The forecasts had been calling for a snow storm to sweep through the South, beginning for Atlantans between 7 and 9 pm. But by 9:30 there was still no snow and I was bummed! You'd think I was a kid watching and waiting for Santa Clause. But about 10 pm, it began drifting down from above....a beautiful blanket of white quickly forming against the black backdrop of night.

The next 4 days were spent sledding, sliding, trying to build a snowman with snow that wouldn't pack because it had turned to ice, and admiring the sudden peace that had draped itself over our community. We ate dinner with neighbors each night, rotating houses, and enjoyed an extended period of family time. What a pleasant and unexpected gift!
