Ok, so maybe the title of this post is from George Michael in the 80's, but it does explain my situation. It's interesting how God works, isn't it? I was driving to school a few weeks ago, listening to talk radio and the announcer was discussing the budget crisis in Georgia, particularly in the education system. He went on to announce the latest cut that had been determined for the '09-10 school year: School nurses. I thought to myself, "I am so thankful that I have a job and that there will always be a need for teachers."
Since we found out I was pregnant, we have been thinking about what I would do as far as work goes when the baby comes. Naturally, my first desire is to stay home with him, but thinking that would not be an option, we'd decided I would work part-time, teaching 3 maybe 4 classes. The day after I heard the broadcast about school nurses, Fulton County announced that they were in a hiring freeze, would only offer contracts to full-time employees, current part-timers would lose their positions, and no part-time positions would be available. It's full-time or nothing! Well, there went my plan! So now, I am looking for a part-time job/legit opportunity to work at home. My ultimate hope was to return to Marist School, where I taught last year, and teach World Lit, but I have this sense that it's not going to happen. I am also considering prospecting for a tutoring business, which seems the most profitable outside of teaching. In the meantime though I know I have to trust the Lord that He has the plans all laid out and is not worried one bit about this situation. I'm writing this post primarily as a reminder to myself that He is sovereign over all and He has a plan and his plan is good and he will provide. I find myself feeling anxious and wanting to fix this problem, but there is not one thing I can do to alleviate the issue. So, if you find yourself in the same situation, take heart! He knows our needs better than we do and promises to provide for every one of them.
