What a couple of weeks! Two Saturday nights ago I was already feeling anxious about the week ahead. We were planning to attend church on Sunday morning for the first time since Brayden was born and on Monday, Brayden was having his two month appt, complete with 3 rounds of immunizations. Tuesday I would return to work for a few days of pre-planning and would be dropping him off at the babysitter's for the first time! I've commented on my anxiety before. The whole idea of beginning something new stresses me out, BUT...Monday's appointment (two weeks ago) came and went and Brayden did fine. He ran a little fever in the afternoon, but I knew to expect that. At 9 weeks, he weighed 12 lbs, 14 oz and was 23 in long. He's put on an extra roll since then, so I'm sure the numbers have gone up! :) Tuesday's trip to the babysitter's was fine, though I did forget my "don't wear any mascara" plan and wore it anyway. It was fun to see my teacher friends at school, but I could not wait for 3:30 to hit so I could exit the building to pick him up.
The first week of real school has not been so easy. Literally after the first day I was exhuasted! I'd forgotten how much energy it takes to run a classroom and be "on" all day. I am grateful to have really good classes so far, but have missed Brayden increasingly with each passing day. By Thursday, I was crying as I dropped him off and had to simply turn around and leave, not saying my usual good-bye, I love you and have a good day. I also came down with a sinus infection, leaving me with a fever and in bed on antibiotics by Thursday afternoon. Welcome Back! So goes the life of a working mom I guess. Chris has been amazing! Poor guy--he has filled the roles of dad, mom, husband, housekeeper, etc... whatever has needed to be done, he has done it. He worked from home all day Friday, caring for both me and Brayden, while I was quarantined to the upstairs. He deserves a medal since we all know caring for a baby is a full-time job!! Way to go, Babe! I appreciate all of your hard work.
