The heat index in HH today was 105, with an actual temperature of 95. Because thunderstorms were predicted for the afternoon, we decided to go to Harbortown in the morning to see the lighthouse, walk around South Beach Marina, and eat some lunch at The Salty Dog. Wrong! The waits (Salty Dog and their two overflow restuarants) were all at least an hour. So, we headed to a local fav--as featured on Rachel Ray's $40 a day, The Sea Shack. Nothing fancy--patrons are served on paper plates with plastic utencils--but VERY good and well-priced. Their specialty is the "Shack Attack"--shrimp, oysters, scallops, tilapia, and crabcake, either blackened or fried, with 2 sides. YUM! Brayden helped himself to some applesauce and hush puppy and spit out a bite of cheese grits that I just knew he would love!
The evening brought additional showers, but we were able to squeeze in our first family bike ride...check out how cute Mr. B is with his helmet on. Even though I knew he needed this, I was really worried about strapping such a contraption on his head for fear that it would ruin the whole experience, but he did GREAT! Funny story about the helmet though-- we had to go buy it at Wal-Mart and I kept looking for an infant size label; no such thing! The smallest they carry is for a 3 year old with a head circumference of 50-52cm. Thanks to Brayden's "big" head, his 48cm is not far off! So the helmet is a tad bit large, but there's room to grow! :)
