a grateful heart

if you read my blog, it's probably no surprise to you that chris and many members of his family on his mom's side have hcm. we knew the day was coming when his aunt jean would need a heart transplant, but we never really expected the day would come this soon. and...we never expected a match could or would be found as quickly as it was! yesterday, a match was identified for aunt jean! HOPE was renewed in the form of modern medicine. she had a chance to start over, a chance to have a new heart. the surgery was long and intense, but all of the doctors and nurses have agreed that she has done so well. already, her blood pressure is better than it has been in years! aunt jean, we are so proud of you! and we are grateful to God for guiding the hands of the doctors, allowing the transplant team to be proactive enough to forsee this need, and sustaining life in you. i am once again reminded that life is fragile. we are not in charge of our tomorrows and that is such a difficult concept to grasp as i continue to make plans and look to the future, but the reality is that God could take my life at any moment. wow! hard stuff!
aunt jean, we continue to pray that you will continue to respond well to your new heart and experience many happy years with renewed energy and strength! we love you!
