Brayden celebrated his first month of life while we were away in Seacrest Beach, FL. On our trip down, he was able to meet his great grandparents. What a treat to see their excitement over their new great grandchild. We continue to enjoy watching him grow and develop and we relish each and every new detail of his life. Ten things we love and celebrate about Brayden:
1. the way he pokes his bottom lip out just before he bursts into a loud cry
2. his stretching routine that resembles a turtle sticking out its neck
3. his cute, button nose
4. his cooing when he's happy and content
5. his roving eyes of thanksgiving when he gets a diaper change
6. sucking his thumb or first finger while getting a bath
7. the way he nuzzles close to my neck when cuddling on my shoulder
8. his sleeping pattern: usually 5 hrs at night
9. his beautiful smile and occasional giggle during sleep
10. his increasing appetite that says "I'm a healthy, growing boy!"
At 5 weeks, Brayden weighs 10.2 lbs and measures 22 inches long. I love going to the doctor to see how much weight he's gained; it is secretly a feeling of accomplishment as a mom. As I mentioned above, he has found his thumb and it is terribly cute when he sucks it--so noticeably a comfort for him. He is also holding his head up quite well and loves to kick his legs. We're anxious to know what color his eyes will be, as they are ever blue. Will they remain that way or change to Dyster brown? He enjoys bath time with Daddy, and Daddy especially enjoys when Brayden wets his fresh, clean towel while Daddy holds him (and incidently, wets Daddy too!). He has begun to smile a bit at us while he's awake and this absolutely melts our hearts. What a wild ride to become a parent and have your life instantaneously reordered and prioritized!--all for the better.
